Joanna Lumley joins campaign to save Berwick Street Market

joanna_lumley_sq.pngJoanna Lumley has joined our fight to keep Berwick Street Market independent.

From the Evening Standard:

"Joanna Lumley is supporting traders at a 250-year-old Soho street market in their bid to keep it “independent”.

The actress said it would be a “huge loss” to London if the six-days-a-week Berwick Street market disappeared in its current form because of Westminster council’s plans to award a management contract to a private company.

The star of Absolutely Fabulous, 70, who buys flowers and fruit from the market, is one of almost 9,500 people to sign a petition “to stop the privatisation” due to come into force in spring.
